Escape Room Rating: 85%
"Set in the 1700’s on a dark and stormy night. The Royal Fortune is anchored and emptied of its crew. You successfully stole Black Bart’s treasure map last time you boarded his ship. Now you and your crew want to plunder his ship again..except this time, they returned unexpectedly. You have 60 minutes to escape the ship before Captain Black Bart and his pirates find you and you’re forced to walk the plank!"
The newest addition to Beat the Room's Vacaville location, The Plundering is a semi-sequel to The Captain's Quarters in their Rocklin location. With more tech, more rooms, and keeping some of the best things about the original, this room is a fantastic follow-up. Awesome effects such as thunder and a super unique clue system make this an authentic pirate themed room. There is a balance of different types of puzzles, although the one caveat we'd add is a few of them are similar concepts to Captain's Quarters in-case you've played it at their Rocklin location. The set-design is truly immersive, with all-wooden walls, lamps, muskets, and cannonballs found across the room. There's also a fun little easter egg you will likely find that made our team chuckle.
Beat The Room's signature ability is on display here, this room can be enjoyable for both enthusiasts (who may not have trouble escaping, but can chase the leaderboard, as we did) and those newer to escape rooms.
